MDHA Selects Local Firm as Developer of Bridge Building Baron+Dowdle Will Lead Team to Build-Out Interior Space for Restaurant, Event Space

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency today selected a local development team lead by Baron+Dowdle Construction, LLC to develop, lease and manage the recently renovated Bridge Building located on the east bank of the Cumberland River adjacent to the Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge. The Baron+Dowdle development team propose adding restaurants and special event functions to the riverfront building.

“The Bridge Building is a unique, highly visible building on the east bank of the downtown riverfront, and the addition of restaurants and event spaces into the building will create a vibrant, distinct destination with unmatched views of the city,” said Mayor Karl Dean. “Nashville’s citizens were clear during development of the riverfront plan that they want a 24-hour riverfront that is active and sustainable with public places that reconnect people to the river. This project and Cumberland Park are the first two steps toward a major transformation of our riverfront.”

Baron+Dowdle’s development team includes The Blonder Group, Pinnacle Bank, EOA Architects, Lamoureux Properties, Cooper Travis & Company, and Bradley Arant Boult Cummings.

“The former NABRICO building has played an important role in the history of Nashville’s riverfront and we are excited to be selected to continue that history by turning the newly renovated Bridge Building into a unique Nashville landmark,” said Michael Baron, CEO of Baron+Dowdle. “We have put together a creative, home grown development team with a shared vision of creating an award winning, vibrant place to serve a broad spectrum of users and guests.”

The developer envisions a locally owned, Nashville flavored restaurant with space for live music acts, in addition to special event and function areas that will capitalize on extraordinary views of the riverfront and downtown skyline.
